My Passion

I love to run, it is my passion. It is in my past, present, and even future. It is amazing. I just love to hit the trails and go on a nice long run. Running helps me get away from the stresses of life. Some of my favorite things about running are working on my stride, feeling free, getting time to think, and getting to spend time with my dad. Usually I run with my dad, we talk and help each other keep going. I really just love everything about running. I run a lot and even have my own little training plan, which I do pretty often.

This is a picture of me and my dad right after we came back from a six mile run in the snow! (It was really fun!)

My favorite race that I have ever done is a 10k called the AJC Peachtree Roadrace, and it is in Atlanta. One reason I like it is because there is just so much good energy in the air, and people cheering for you, which just makes you so happy. The course is also really cool, because you run through downtown Atlanta. I also love the finish because at the end of every race you get a special finisher t-shirt and you also feel so good about yourself. Overall I have done this race since I was 10 and every time, it is awesome.

Yes, it is hard. You have to be strong and tough. But that’s one of the many reasons I love to run. If you ever want to read a really good book about a runner you should read The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen. It is amazing and you should definitely check it out!

There are many forms of running, you can be a sprinter, a long distance runner (like me), a middle distance runner, and more. Running is a form of beauty in everyday life. It is flying on the ground. It is everywhere. It is running. It is my passion.

  1. Hey Allison,
I’m Shanta and I am from Australia. I think that you feel very strongly about your passion, running. I think that flying on the ground is a great way to describe it – sometimes I feel the same way when I am just running around. I enjoy running but I am not very good at it!
    Keep blogging and running,
    Shanta

  2. Dear Shanta,
Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed my post! It was really nice of you to include a link to your blog, it is so cool. I especially love your post about all of the different pictures of grass, it gives a really cool perspective on something so simple. It is also really cool that you live in Australia, I live in the Uninted States. What is your favorite thing about Australia?
    Keep flying on the ground,
    Allison

    • Hey Allison,
      Thank you!
My favourite thing about living in Australia is probably my awesome school, but perhaps that isn’t specific to living in Australia. The thing I love the most is probably seeing cute cuddly koalas sleeping in gum trees – an experience like no other in the world! What is your favourite thing about living in the USA?
      Keep on blogging,
      Shanta

      • Dear Shanta,
That is so awesome! I bet your school is really great! I also can’t believe how nice it must be to see a koala. I have never seen them in person before, but they seem really cute! I totally want to visit Australia. My favorite thing about the USA is probably getting to travel to the beach to see my cousins. It is really fun and we get to hang out. It isn’t very specific to the USA, but I really enjoy it. Getting to see koalas is probably much cooler than getting to see a fox or something. But there are still some cute animals like otters and deer. I figure that some of the experiences that are most specific to the USA are getting to go to sports games for baseball and football. What are some of your favorite sports (to play or watch)?
        Have fun,
        Allison

        • Hi Allison,
Wish we had otters and deer here! Unfortunately, we do have foxes- but they have become feral, which means that seeing one isn’t that special! My favourite sport to watch is probably tennis, but my favourite sport to play is netball. In Australia, we have a sport called AFL which is pretty much unique- it was first played by Aboriginal peoples.
          Keep blogging,
          Shanta
PS Did you see STUBC Week 7?

          • Dear Shanta,
Those sports seem really cool! I’ve heard of tennis, but could you explaine what netball and AFL are? It is so cool that AFL was first played by Amoriginal people! Yes, I did see STUBC Week 7! It was so awesome that we got featured! Nothing like that has ever happened to me before, I was so happy! How were you feeling?
            Keep blogging,
            Allison

  3. Hey Allison,

I’m Sarah and I’m from Hawaii. I really liked your post about running and the AJC Peachtree Roadrace. I’m not a big fan of running, so any tips to enjoy running? Come visit my blog at http://hmssarah.edublogs.org/

    Thanks,
    Sarah <3

    • Dear Sarah,
Thank you! It’s so nice that you liked my post! The AJC Peachtree Road Race is something I love to do and I am so glad enjoyed hearing about it! It is so cool that you are from Hawaii, I am from North Carolina. I can’t wait to visit your blog! What are things like in Hawaii?
So yes, running is very tough, but the biggest way to start enjoying it is to have a good mindset. You have to believe in your abilities to run and in yourself. When you change your mindset it will change your perspective in running. You will see it as whatever you think it is. All you need to see it as is a way to have fun, be active, clear your mind, and just get better. Running itself is easy, changing your mindset is pretty difficult, but once you master it, running will hopefully get a lot more enjoyable. You don’t have to be fast to be a runner, you just have to get your heart into it and love it! Have fun in Hawaii!
      Keep blogging,
      Allison

      • Hey Allison,

  12. Hi Allison,
Running is a cool hobby. I found your post very informative. How fast do you run? What is is the furthest distance your have ever run? The photo in your post helped support it. Recently we had cross country. Does your school do cross country? If so how do you do at it? I appreciate all the work you put in your post.
    Lucy
P.S Could you please visit my blog at http://lucyw618.edublogs.org/.

    • Dear Lucy,
Thanks for checking out my blog! I am so glad you liked my post. Running is really fun and it is definitely something that I am good at.
You could say I’m fast, my most recent 5k (3 miles) time was 20 minutes and 40 seconds, which is fast for a sixth grader. The furthest distance I have ever run is 10 miles. Yes, our school has cross country, but unfortunately I am only in sixth grade so I am too young to participate in it yet. Our cross country begins in seventh grade. We do run in PE sometimes though. Do you like to run?
I also really enjoyed your blog! Your alphabet post was really awesome, it is so cool that you have lived in two different countries! Do you prefer Canada or Australia?
      Keep blogging,
      Allison
